Review by Sandre the Giant Released: 27th March 2026 Kentucky trio Highgate have taken to expressing their feelings about the state of the world through a particularly abrasive and blackened take on sludgy doom, and their new full length record ‘Prophecies of Eternal Horror’ seems to be the focal point of all that rage and fervour. It has been their first full length release since 2013’s ‘Survival’, although there has been a little life in them since then. It is out now through Horror Pain Gore Death Productions. There is something haunting and grim about Highgate’s overall sound, but I think it is that guitar tone that really sinks into your mind; gloomy but with an almost black metal bite to it, it serpentines its way around the scathing, savage vocals of the three members, who all contribute, trickling like an oily black coating across some thick doomy atmospherics.
