YouTube's New Programs to Encourage Binge Watching

On this page I was watching a video from Tasting History where Max said: I wanted to let you know about the second channel I recently started. Its in conjunction with YouTube. Essentially, it's marathons of old Tasting History videos. It's a way to give old dead videos a second life. If you go to the channel, you will see that the videos are all around 2 hours long. The channel setup and video naming doesn't feel like something Max did himself. Yet I can understand why Max would agree to this. He often makes several videos with a shared theme, so bundling them together makes sense. The "in conjunction with YouTube" part is what set off the red flag for me. YouTube does this kind of special relationship with big channels all the time, but they are tight lipped about the process. Getting to see behind the curtain is important because it helps us understand how YouTube tries to suck viewers in and how to defend against it.
