Art Prompts: Hailstone Arabesques

This is the first in a series of prompts for art intertwined with math. Jump in and choose your medium to indulge in creative expression. Warm-upGrab a sheet of paper and a ruler. Make a line with 16 marks evenly spaced from the top to the bottom of the page. Next, let's define two rules to build a sequence together. If a number is even, divide by 2If a number is odd, multiply by 3 and add 1Let's start with 6. It is even, so 6 divided by 2 is 3. Connect the 6th mark to the 3rd mark with a curve on your line:Now we have 3, which is odd. Going back to our rules, we need to multiply by 3 and add 1. That results in 10.
