Bashing Brewery Balsam 0 ▲ Cotswold Diary 3 hours ago · Nature · hide · 0 comments Headed over towards Stroud Brewery with Stroud Valleys Project to deal with the Himalayan Balsam on a new stretch of canal. We started off on the opposite side to the tow path where it was pretty dense. There were quite a few of us, and we managed to move quite methodically through the area. Although it hasn’t been pulled by our group in the last few years, it hadn’t completely taken over. The native vegetation was still holding it’s own. By break time we had completely finished that side, which was very satisfying. We couldn’t reach parts right down by the water in front of dense trees – they would need to be done by boat. We could then start on the towpath side, which apart from the first part was very clear – a testament to work done in previous years along here. So then we went down to Bagpath bridge and tackled the other side where quite a bit had sprung up, particularly where construction tracks have been laid.
