2026 Anniversary Series 073: 36 Crazyfists – Rest Inside the Flames

Scribed by Sandre the Giant Released: 10th June 2006 I was fascinated to learn, while doing this series, that 36 Crazyfists had been going for about 10 years longer than I thought they had. I only came across them on ‘Bitterness the Star’ in 02, but they’d been fighting the good fight in the underground for eight years previous. Every day is a school day, so they say. Anyway, 2006 being an absolute apex year for metalcore saw the band release ‘Rest Inside the Flames’, an album that couldn’t feel more ‘metalcore zeitgeist’ if it’d tried, and perhaps saw the creative peak of the genre in its wake start to slip away. That of course, is an opinion with twenty years of hindsight. 36 Crazyfists were lucky enough to escape the nu-metal collapse early on and thrive in the world of early-to-mid 2000s metalcore, .Their punk and post-hardcore elements helped them stick out a little more from the Killswitch clones, and vocalist Brock Lindow’s charismatic clean vocals were instantly recognisable…
