Review: Eveale – Enter the Woodland Realm

Review by Sandre the Giant Released: 1st May 2026 If there’s something I will always get sucked in by, it is a black metal record with a gloriously classical painting as its artwork, and natural themes as well as comparisons to Enslaved and Borknagar. The new record from UK/US black metal project Eveale is just that it seems, titled ‘Enter the Woodland Realm’, and it is out now self released. Opener ‘The Beckoning’ is a wonderful, pastoral acoustic piece wreathed in birdsong and natural ambience, setting the scene for ‘Lament of the Dryads’ to come tearing through with fiery black metal. There’s a lot of virtuoso guitar leads, not something you see a lot of in black metal but it provides a nice touch of uniqueness to Eveale’s sound. ‘The Enemy’ has a bit of chunky Teutonic thrash in it, broken by a majestic sweeping section and clean vocals that remind me of early Aaron Stainthorpe.
