Little Prince

Rintaro talked about Saint-Exupéry in The Cat Who Saved Books so I thought I had better read some to broaden my mind! Memories of school and stories being read out to us in class made me think I had already heard “The Little Prince” but ChatGPT tells me that what I was actually thinking of was Oscar Wilde’s “The Happy Prince” so this story was really new to me. And what a delight it is. The meditations on the differences between children and adults made me laugh out loud and the meditative ending and reflections on friendship and meaning were surprisingly moving. I don’t need to tell the story here, it is very short, very readable and something that you should look at yourself, I’m sure everyone will get something out of reading this book, and it may well be a different something for each person. I had a sense of calm, right and connection to the people I care about (those that have “tamed” me, and I them). An absolute delight.
