I've used a few different recipe apps and websites in my lifetime. They were never quite right, but they did the job. I purchased my previous favourite app (I think for 5-8$ at the time? This was probably 7 or 8 years ago) for its pro features and ad-free use. But of course, as with so many things these days, it started to get worse. They eventually switched to a subscription model (thankfully my previous purchase was grandfathered in so I wasn't forced into a subscription). But it was the beginning of the end, and the final straw was the app's infusion of AI features. Time to jump ship... but to what? I've already done this so many times already. Was I going to keep doing this dance every few years, finding some new app that was good until it wasn't, then needing to export everything all over again... sounds exhausting. pancelor used Obsidian a lot already, for personal notes and game tracking. He's also a big on having stuff in simple, accessible file formats. After complaining…
