Day 172: Power Grid

2026-07-28Hello!I could not get a clear view of the sunset sky. Down Main Street, all I could see at the horizon were buildings, trees, and roadsigns. And power lines.I've come around to the opinion that the power grid is the most miraculous invention or bit of infrastructure in the US. It's fragile and needs maintenance, sure, but I think two landmark requirements can change some land into an actual place: ability to deliver power there, and ability to deliver mail there — the Postal Office is amazing too, but I didn't photograph it!Maybe, one day, we can add a third requirement — the ability to deliver internet there. Sending satellites for data connection down on Earth seems like an overengineered approach? It's slow, polluting, and expensive... and yet it's the necessary option for many.Power and mail are taken for granted (and internet someday in the future), but they are miracle systems that need attention (financial or otherwise) to survive.I've been watching videos on…
