Low flow river counts 0 ▲ Cotswold Diary 1 hour ago · Life · hide · 0 comments Met up with Tony this morning at Ebley for our regular monthly riverfly survey. We decided to use the alternate site rather than the main site, because we were never confident the main site would show anything during the summer months. We’ve had two official sites about 100m apart for about a year now. I was skeptical at first, thinking it would add complexity. However, it’s been useful because it’s in a quiet spot and easy to access in the summer. Straight away the sample trays were showing lots of gammarus, which we haven’t always seen here recently. However, as we looked closer it was difficult to spot other species. After looking for 15 minutes, we found some cased caddis and olives, so in the end recorded a score of 5. Later in the morning, I had a call with Debbie about the Cam & Dursley Creatives initiative. It was useful to run through how the group works and any changes that can be made in the future.
