Last Friday night I spent time learning how to make my own Churros! Since I was already making my own tortillas for tacos, I was inspired to make Churros for dessert too. I had a churro kit that had been sitting on the shelf for awhile now and figured this would be pretty simple. The kit came with a pastry bag and tube tip, and a mix. I followed the instructions exactly, which I noticed immediately something wasn't right. Regardless, I followed them to see what would happen and as expected, it wasn't working out. The instructions on the side of the box said 1 1/2 cup of water to 1 cup of Churro mix. That's a lot of water! So you can probably imagine what that looked like. I had to add more mix to it to firm it up into a batter like paste. The box also said to heat up some oil in a frying pan, which I did. When I attempted to squeeze out the Churro paste into the pan, it sort of lumped up and came out looking like a giant tape worm. I was so grossed out by its appearance and texture…
