It's now been around 18 months since I ditched Chrome as my daily web browser, both on desktop and mobile. Not once have I missed it. Chrome has for a while been a joke when it comes to performance and that was a part of what led me to moving away from it. At the time I was still using my old Dell XPS which - according to Microsoft - was coming to end of life (EoL). Even though I do still use that laptop, but with Linux (Bazzite for now) Chrome was really starting to chug a bit on that machine. The other issue of course is Google itself. I had over the years increasingly moved many aspects of my digital over to Google's services, even if I never felt truly confident that (aside from Gmail and Chrome) Google would continue to support it. Google Tasks always felt like any day it could be added to the Google Graveyard. It was also increasingly the attitude of Google and the other big tech firms.
