apps that feel nice to use

I’m currently trying out jrnl for my journalling needs. I assure you no one is more surprised than I am that after nearly four years of journalling in Obsidian (with detours to Day One, Diarly and other dedicated journalling apps, but always returning to Obsidian), a command-line program is what’s coming closest to dethroning it. There are a number of reasons why I like jrnl, but I want to see if it sticks and then do a dedicated post on a later date if it does. Today, I want to write about the fact that, for all of jrnl’s considerable merits, the unavoidable fact remains that the terminal is not a nice environment for longform writing. This is understandable. Longform writing is not what the terminal is made for. And since jrnl keeps your journal in a simple plain text file, you can use any text editor you like to write in it.
