Review: A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers – Towers of Silence

Review by Sandre the Giant Released: 8th May 2026 While A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers’ name could reference the Van De Graaf Generator song, or the Robert Eggers movie or something else equally esoteric, these Dutch experimentalists have built their sludgy doom on an ambient foundation. But there are so many influences going into making ‘Towers of Silence’ that this doesn’t feel like just another Sunn0))) or Earth knock off, this is something much more interesting. ‘Towers of Silence’ is out now through Lay Bare Recordings as well as self released digitally. A sordid, scowling roar of strange, sludgy doom, opener ‘The Massacre of Flour’ pulls no punches when it is at full force, but sounds almost as potent and threatening during the quieter moments.
