Tim Barry at Dogwood Dell Dogwood Dell is a 2400 capacity amphitheater in the middle of a city park owned by the City of Richmond. Every summer Richmond does free shows just about every weekend as part of a summer long Arts Festivals that has been happening longer than I've been alive. Tim Barry is a local musician probably best known as the lead singer of Avail. But he has also released about 10 folk-rock albums since Avail released their last record over 20 years ago. It made for one of more interesting mixes of people I've ever seen at a concert. There was a healthy representation of current Avail fans, averaging 12 piercings each and dressed completely in black leather. There were a lot of middle aged folks with families that likely attended a few Avail shows back in day. And there were some grandparents with their grand kids that I suspect live within walking distance and just habitually wander over to the Dell for live shows.
