First off, they announced that David Jonsson is the new Black Panther. The chatter online about it has ranged from happiness to disbelief to anger, with people saying it's not fair to Letitia Wright. (Nerds are never satisfied.) Fresh off that news was a double whammy: the massive fumble of two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali from the death of the Blade film, and the cancellation of Wonder Man despite a season 2 renewal and its lead Yahya Abdul-Mateen II getting an Emmy nomination for his role. This has signaled folks to start putting the pieces together about Marvel's history of cancelling Black and brown shows and sidelining Black and brown characters. Marvel tossed out news about casting Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider in an upcoming Ghost Rider film and Samara Weaving as Emma Frost for the upcoming X-Men film, but I don't think that's gonna be enough to turn the tide (at least not for Black folks).
