Everything Has Unintended Consequences

By pure chance, I found myself witness to the most delightful of unexpected scenarios: a fascinating conversation about a topic I knew almost nothing about. All I have to do in these situations is show interest and ask questions, which folks always seem to appreciate. Huzzah for the occasional effortless moment of socializing! In this instance, it was soil quality in regional Victoria, and how something undertaken for one purpose can, generations later, produce (often) catastrophic consequences nobody intended. A Little Background The area discussed is the Central Highlands, specifically the area around Ballarat, which is in Wadawurrung Country. If you aren’t aware, this is the site of one Australian gold rush (yes, Californians, fortunately/unfortunately, we had one too.)
