Welcome to a Sunday ramble-a window into what making this stuff actually happen looks like when you’ve committed to a lot. I’ve got three or four DJ gigs this month. Instead of building separate playlists, I’m making one big six-hour playlist of the stuff that’s worked all summer. Greatest hits only. One summer surprise: deep house really hasn’t worked. Weird- thought it would. What has worked is switching to Djay Pro. It’s been fantastic. I’m spending way less mental brains worrying about precise tempos and beatmatching and way more on song selection, fit, etc. All because, after years of avoiding it, I’m hitting the Sync button. I feel redic for not doing it sooner. One Djay Pro thing I really like is that you can set the crossfader to gradually adjust tempos as you move it, instead of always matching them via sync. You still have to know when to bring songs in, so it isn’t automatic, but it smooths everything out. Mix anything with anything--all without chipmunk-ing it all. Buck…
