There is a strange kinship between extreme cold and unbearable heat. We usually associate introspection with winter: short days, closed windows, the instinct to retreat into ourselves. But relentless summer can produce the same effect. When the air refuses to move and every gesture feels excessive, survival becomes quieter. We ration our energy, our thoughts, our expectations. We learn, once again, that living is also an economy of movement. Music belongs to that economy. Sooner or later, surviving the heat, the boredom, the grief, or simply another ordinary day means allowing sound to enter through the ears and travel somewhere deeper, where words have already given up.
