This is my entry for July’s IndieWeb Carnival. True to form, it was written right at the eleventh hour (dictated, in this case.) I’m trying something new: drafting while I go on my morning walk. It’s awkward ‘speaking’ a post instead of writing it, but hopefully it doesn’t sound too different from the way I usually write. It’s probably more ‘rambly,’ though! This month’s topic is “Masks, Identities & Cosplay,” aptly chosen by the lovely Joe Crawford, who’s put together a few great cosplays. I wasn’t sure what to write. I suppose the beauty of ‘masks and identities’ is they mean many things. Don’t believe anyone who tells you there are no inherent deeper layers in something! I’ve only cosplayed twice, both times because I attended Halloween events as a teenager. (Can I call it cosplay if it was for Halloween?) In Australia, Halloween isn’t a tradition. Older generations would scoff if you asked whether they celebrated it! Some folks put it on for their kids. We watch so much American…
