Cat update – this time more serious 0 ▲ The Frugal Blog 1 hour ago · Life · hide · 0 comments Anastasia has been very vocal lately, much more than usual, and it’s been worrying us. She’s been yeowling a lot at night, and both before and after using her litter box, and has been especially clingy, which is a lot given I usually call her my Velcro Cat. So I scheduled an appointment to get some blood work done for her. Behavior changes in older cats can often signify health problems; I was worried that it might mean something serious. After speaking with the vet and getting the blood results back, it looks like Anastasia has been diagnosed with the early stages of chronic kidney disease. I’m not entirely surprised, as she’s 17 years old at the moment, which is pretty old for a cat. I feel like we’ve been lucky for a long time, and it was bound to run out eventually. It’s a relief to know what is wrong, finally, even if it isn’t a completely clean bill of health. She has been acting differently lately, and not knowing what’s wrong…well, somehow that’s worse.
