It’s 207 miles to Weston-super-Mare, I’ve got full bottles of water, half a box of rice cakes, it’s sunrise, and I’m wearing sunglasses. Hit it. What? Chase the Sun is a yearly set of rides that attempt to cross the width of various countries between sunrise and sunset on the longest day of the year. This year, on June 20th, I did the UK South route. I had 16 hours 52 minutes to cover 334 km (207 miles) with 3,108 m (9,902 feet) of elevation. Check it out on Strava! Why??? Good question. I bought my first ’adult’ bike on June 12th 2025 as the next step in last years foray into fitness. I took to it quickly and it’s become undoubtedly my favourite sport. I kept wanting more. My volume increased. I went on increasingly long rides. And despite me not wanting to admit it, I took it all rather seriously.
