20 years ago, I asked a girl a really stupidly phrased question. I don’t know if it is because she found me cute or if she was expecting that question already, but she said yes without a moment’s hesitation. I still remember how the sun shined that evening and the warmth of the room as I asked her this. I still remember giggling through the auto ride back home, because I now had a girlfriend. It wasn’t just a mysterious creature that I saw in romcoms but something that I myself could boast of having now? We were 16 when we started going out with each other and I’ve lived more of my life with her than without her. There have been many versions of me that have come into being, since that day and I’m glad that every version of me that came out, made the decision to call this woman the love of my life.
