Little Green Pig is “a small charity based in Brighton and Hove* born out of the belief that offering children and young people the opportunity to develop writing skills and invest in their imaginations can truly change their lives. For over 15 years we’ve worked across Sussex with more than 7,000 children aged between 6-18 years, mentoring them through after school clubs, residencies and projects with the mission of nurturing their confidence, self-expression and creative potential.” At that link there’s a short video showing kids having fun. One of my granddaughters is currently volunteering for Little Green Pig — thanks for the valuable work! Writing clubs seem like a really good idea, and one from which every town could benefit. But a charity like this is not really scalable. The success of each writing club is dependent on the staff supporting the children. Encouragement and enthusiasm are what drives the club.
