How to Make Liquid Glass as Good as Aqua

D. Griffin Jones: Now, Liquid Glass includes a new effect that blurs the content beneath it very heavily, but makes that blur mostly transparent. This adds contrast while keeping the glass clear and sharp, not fully frosted. However, it makes Liquid Glass look hazy. It looks like a cheap piece of plastic that’s been scratched and scuffed until it isn’t so transparent anymore. Like a Tupperware that’s been through the dishwasher too many times. Or an old pool float. Or a plastic radio from the early 2000s translucency craze. I bet this actually is the most balanced approach that honors Liquid Glass’s original design, but it takes some getting used to. I’ve said for awhile that Liquid Glass could become a modern take on Aqua. The part that has been lacking is obvious usability and continuing the theme through all interface elements. There should be no question what’s clickable/tappable and what’s active versus inactive. The changes with the 27 OSes are a step in the right direction.
