"No Ma(n)d’s Land" by Rob Walbers

This is a big photography book. It collects the pictures Walbers took during several trips to Mongolia in 2014-2018, focusing on the nomad population. There are only a few pages of bilingual text (English and Japanese) that offer some background information. Naturally there are many beautiful pictures in here, lots of detailed portraits and photographs of daily life. My favorites are the dual-page shots of the environment. The book doesn't just show the 'classic' nomadic life, but it's also honest about the influence of climate collapse on their culture. Many are forced to move to the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar to work in the mines. Others have no choice but to survive by collecting trash from massive landfills in the area.
