There'll be a homeserver post on that saga soon. In the meantime, a lot happened with Paramount-WBD while I wasn't looking, so let's catch up. I last left this at a 14-day TRO — a judge hitting pause on the merger while the states' antitrust case played out. Turns out that was just the opening move. The EU Cleared It (With Strings) On July 22, the European Commission granted conditional approval — Paramount has to exit its film distribution joint venture with Universal in Europe, but otherwise the EU is fine with it. That closes out one of the open regulatory fronts from last time. It's also a reminder that "the EU is skeptical too" wasn't the same story as "the EU will block it" — they wanted a concession, got one, and moved on.
