I saw Paul’s post Why I Left Wordpress for BearBlog a little earlier today. As a fellow Wordpress refugee who has been using it for almost 2 decades, for both personal and work purposes, I decided to reply with my own thoughts. Like Paul says, the key problem is it’s pretty bloated and now seems to be jack of all trades, but master of none. The recent push to incorporate AI functionality into core has only lowered my opinion of it further. That and the petty leadership that has made itself known over the last couple of years 1. I was very happy to migrate to Bear for my personal blog. I had over 200 posts, which took me quite some time to bring over. A lot of the old links don’t work, sadly because they simply don’t exist anymore. I guess that’s what happens when you’ve been blogging since 2001. Unfortunately I’m still stuck with it for work. We use Woocommerce because it does exactly what we need it to do and we’re not reliant on a marketplace that could take us offline at any…
