Distillery Day - 5/30 0 ▲ the Wry Writer 14 days ago · Life · hide · 0 comments We didn’t get to go where we wanted to go this morning because of the construction going on all over the city, for the new tramway. So, mid-way through our journey we hopped off one bus and pivotted our plans, and headed out on another bus and … went to Maguire street. A favourite food destination. In a way, I’m glad we did because one, it’s a street full of niche boutiques and restaurants, including my fav (more on that in a minute) and, we discovered, a new endeavour. A distillery, a place called Cherry River. It’s attached to the old villagechurch. Maguire use to be the main street of an old village long since swallowed up by the ever expanding city years ago. And while the church still stand (unused) the historic hall next door is now, it seems, brewing delicious spirits. So, of course, we went in and had ourselves a tasting. Various flavoured vodkas, tequila, gin, and a drink they were calling rhum — which I am reliably informed is a sugarcane juice rum. Well, there you go,… No comments yet.
