My best friend, my soul dog, my everything, Cocoa, crossed the rainbow bridge on July 22, 2026 between 12:46 - 12:51PM Pacific after a fight with IVDD (where she became paralyzed in 3 of her limbs). I am swimming in an ocean of grief, barely able to float. Cocoa was deeply intertwined in the fabric of my life and routine. She was my (/our) whole world. I have not fully lived my adult life without her. She was with me for nearly 15 years. Losing her is like losing a limb, the very meaning of my existence. They say grief is just love with nowhere to go. I have poured all my love into Cocoa, and so this grief is suffocating me. I just have to keep reminding myself that she is no longer in pain. She was in so much pain the last 24 hours of her life. It's my turn to hold on to that pain for her. One of these days, I will write about our story. Until then, we'll continue to find ways to commemorate her on our own. Rest easy, my love. Your mom and I will try to hold down the fort for you.…
