subscribe does not mean email

It's very irritating. A bear blogger - just discovered via trending - is writing some IMO 'good stuff' which is appreciated. Much of it concerns creating habitual offline time, but no more clues here and this is far from critical, it's just plain irritating... What? E-mailing personally, or contributing to a guest-book, is at least engaging 'one-to-one'. And if you don't want either of those to be offered that's perfectly fine. Sometimes my engaging (usually thanks) has to be sent through the ether to express gratitude or the blogger will never know that I've sent a link to a friend. However, if you have a tab which says 'Email' and then the only option is to subscribe you haven't given me an email. You've invited me to subscribe! Feels like I've been short-changed and a bit hypocritical or at least, misleading? Am REALLY happy to be proved 'wrong' on this!
