Review: Carbon Tomb – Passage to a Neutron Star

Review by Sandre the Giant Released: 12th July 2026 Danish progressive, technical and dissonant death metallers Carbon Tomb are a new outfit but their chosen style is one that their current label has a vast amount of experience with. Their debut album, ‘Passage to a Neutron Star’ promises to take this rather inscrutable genre blend and give you a fluid, memorable and almost accessible route into it. That can always be a challenge with dissonant death metal but it is normally a fascinating experiment when bands attempt it. The album is out now through Transcending Obscurity The roiling, black sea of riffs that Carbon Tomb swim in is magnificent, slightly dissonant and reminiscent of Immolation at their most potent. ‘A Hidden Creature’ churns and lurches while vocalist Jeppe Tander strains at the very limits of his growls, sounding at times desperate for release.
