But it also applies physical safety as well. Humans in the loop can be catastrophic—they misinterpret something, make the wrong decision, perform the wrong action, or be really stupid. Having physical connections, electrical signals, and default safe conditions do the work minimizes the chance of taking the wrong action and enforces stupidity, just in the way that computers are stupid and do exactly what they’re told…
