A week ago I blogged about an app named Chrome Browser Default in the Mac App Store. This app is no longer available in the Mac App Store. I had deleted the app from the Applications folder on my Mac, and now I can’t download it again from the Purchased section of the App Store app. I have no idea why the Dutch name “Standaard Browser Wisselen” appears in the alert, because the App Store Purchased section says “Chrome Browser Default,” and my only Mac system language is English (US). The name of the developer in the App Store was Chinese, 立花 卢. I believe that the assertion by the alert that the developer has removed this app from the App Store is actually false. Via the Purchased section of the App Store app, I can still download discontinued apps that developers have removed from the App Store. Indeed, I have removed some of my own apps, which new customers can no longer purchase but previous customers can still install on their devices. My suspicion is that Apple, not the developer,…
