Somehow the last few years (the last decade and a half…) I only realized the contest was on when it was finished, or nearly so. This year I did manage to get into it on time, and I created a small location scenario nominally for my Glimmermark campaign, but should be appropriate for all kinds of fantasy games. Not that I started with that. I started with a map from watabou’s dungeon generator, filled it with my random stocking tables, and then fleshed it out in detail. I did NOT know it was going to be an underground temple complex until mid-process, and then some of the ideas I had for the Glimmermark, the city of Spiegelberg, and it’s history congealed into an actual place.
