Future euro banknote design

For the first time in more than 20 years, euro banknotes are about to be redesigned, and several proposals were submitted by designers across Europe. In short, two themes and several motifs were given to the designers to work with. The selected themes were “European culture” and “Rivers and birds”. Among the more than 1,200 submissions, a shortlist of ten designs was taken on by the European Central Bank (ECB).
