Day 165: Hot Damn 0 ▲ dpanphoto 7 days ago · Life · hide · 0 comments 2026-07-21Hello! This is another favorite image of mine.Experimenting with different perspectives, I thought that this wooden trunk could look amazing if only I framed it right.I walked by this row of trees several times, and I couldn't figure out how best to capture the wooden texture. I used a few different lenses to get different perspectives but didn't think any of them would be keepers until I got home. This photograph is all about the texture and the luminance (or lightness) of the tree. I stripped away the color and added contrast between the cracks of the wood.It looks a bit like molten volcano lava after it's been cooled down, as if some hot eruption covered this area and froze in place.I don't know if this chalky white base of the tree means it's unhealthy, but it seems like all outer bark layers of a tree trunk are dead wood anyway.I filled the frame with the tree and kept all parts of it in sharp focus to eliminate its surrounding context. It seems like a lot of my favorite… No comments yet. Log in to reply on the Fediverse. Comments will appear here.
