Another milestone weeknote! I’ve managed to publish a weeknote every week for 300 weeks, getting close to 6 years or ~16% of my life. Sometimes I hate it, other times I love it. I was recently talking to a friend about why I write. I’m the primary audience; what it’s done for me is removed the fog of “what did I do?” when faced with years that seem to pass more quickly. It’s lovely to be able to answer that question without relying on my poor memory and I love having different experiences, mundane or otherwise, recorded here for my future self. The past week was busy. Work’s been quite a lot. My team are merging into another team officially now. It’s not what I would have chosen but a team of two isn’t particularly resilient and we’ve been told there’s zero chance of extra funding. We’ll make it work as best we can but I’m a bit sad that we’re no longer going to have a dedicated SRE team. We played D&D again this week after a little break, and it was a blast.
