Music Monday: Get out of the House Music from Baltimore

The long ramp down of my summer research leave is starting to give way to the gradual ramp up to the fall semester, but before I let the entire summer slip away, I’m making sure I have the time to enjoy as much music as possible. After a winter and spring filled with Miles Davis (and looking forward to a summer and fall filled with Coltrane), I decided to listen to a couple of my other favorite trumpeters as a palate cleanser. A couple of weeks ago, I enjoyed some Blue Mitchell (with Stanley Turrentine). This week, I listened to two live shows in Baltimore. The first one, Live in Baltimore 1968, features Lee Morgan and Clifford Jordan along with John Hicks on piano, Reggie Workman on bass, and Ed Blackwell on drums.
