I won’t miss its camera, though. It’s designed to make everyone’s photos look better than life, and it pursues that goal aggressively. Trouble is, I prefer a faithful rendering of what I’ve put into the frame. First impressions I bought the iPhone 12 mini because of its small size: 5.18×2.53×0.29 inches and 4.76 ounces. At the time, phones were just getting bigger and bigger — the top-of-the-line iPhone 12 Pro Max felt huge at 6.33×3.07×0.29 inches and 8.03 ounces — and I wanted something I could operate with one hand, like my old iPhone 5. In retrospect, I should have just bought the regular iPhone 12, which was only a little bit bigger than the 12 mini. But what’s done is done. This is the phone I used for five and a half years starting in late 2020. As an Internet device, I liked its small size.
