A Short Hike: magic of indie games

A Short Hike is a delightful indie game released back in 2019 in which you play as Claire, a little bird-person who came with her family on vacation to the fictional Hawk Peak Provincial Park, located on a small island. You get dropped into the environment without any instructions other than the information that Claire is waiting for a phone call and the only place with reception is the top of Hawk Peak. Along the way you interact with plenty of characters who essentially give you either hints or side quests, although there is no quest log so you simply need to remember what and who. The game is short enough that it’s not really a problem though.I played A Short Hike couple years ago on an iPhone and loved it. Recently though I was travelling for work and decided to dust off my Switch 2 and give it another go on my flight. The second playthrough with a much larger screen and better controls really gave me an extra appreciation for the thoughtful game design and the beautiful art and…
