I woke early — it has been warm lately. It is strange how you can find a burst of energy at 5am, but today it came, for I decided to organise my bookshelves, sorting what books I am ready to donate to the local charity shop.I picked up books — stories — and thought about the good memories I had with them. I also thought honestly about some books that have been on my shelf for a while. Did I read this? Will I read this? Do I still want to hold onto this? In some cases the answer is yes. There are books I have that I know I am going to be ready to read one day. In other cases the answer is no — to let the dream go means to make room for new dreams.Having sorted out my books, a dozen or so ready to be donated, I went to the magazines and clippings — the miscellanea. I found the newspaper extracts I have saved: stories I read that were so meaningful I knew I wanted to keep them.I don’t know whether I found the story that helped me think about something that means a lot to me this morning…
