This is a map of Tucson from https://deflock.org. It shows the location of public facing cameras throughout the area, primarily focusing on Flock cameras, but there are other cameras on this map as well. I feel very strongly about the presence of Flock cameras, the propaganda of safety around them, and their actual impact on the privacy of my fellow citizens. There’s been a lively discussion on the Tucson Reddit board, with an overwhelming majority decrying the growing presence of this surveillance. There are two arguments from the crowd that doesn’t mind the privacy invasion. One argument is “If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about”. The other is “Your phone is capturing just as much data”. Here are my quick rebuttals to these idiotic viewpoints: We all know “AI” is not perfect.
