A charismatic teacher at a girl’s school in 1930s Edinburgh has made it her mission to introduce them to arts and culture, as well as topics that would horrify their parents. Eventually, the girls turn against her. My book group read this in January and we found it very disturbing.U - Caller Unknown by Gillian McAllister (2026). Simone thinks she is flying to Texas for a vacation with her daughter, an aspiring actress. But when she wakes up on what should be their first morning together, Lucy has been abducted and Simone has to do whatever the kidnappers say to save her daughter’s life.
