Day 162: Hidden Through the Forest

2026-07-18Hello!I wanted to capture how rays of sunlight can serve as a highlighting marker, drawing my attention to certain areas within this forest.Sunlight shone through the leaves and found this open spot, hitting the leaves and branches on the way down. It made for an interesting shot, with bright spots and dark spots. I was standing under many layers of tall leaves, but just across from me, the air was warmer and brighter.I get my photography inspiration from the internet, and I get to try out these ideas on photowalks. I found out about low-key monochrome photography and wanted to give it a try here. Low-key monochrome photography is a style of images that puts weight on the darker shades of gray and black. It can make the sky look dark and stormy, even when it's bright and blue.In this case, I used post-processing to draw the attention to the bright spot in the center, but crushed the highlights down even further so there would be no high-key spots in the image.The examples…
