Cairngorm wildfires 0 ▲ Happily Imperfect 18 minutes ago · Life · hide · 0 comments They’ve been burning for over a week, mostly in a remote area, but the fire still needs dealt with. The wind changed yesterday and so did the fire, and the town of Nethybridge was evacuated last night. The town where my brother-in-law, his pregnant partner, and their 1.5yr old son live, and where my in-laws are staying for a few weeks too. They are all safe in Aviemore and, early reports suggest, the wind has moved again and could be pushing the fire away from the town. That said, it’s hard to find up-to-date information. I’ve been social media trying to get a view of how things are —a place I’ve been avoiding as best I can— and wow it’s worse than ever. The lack of ability to find updates chronologically is frustrating, and the usual pile-on of negative comments about the government, or the one guy who keeps pushing that he has all this equipment but no-one wants him to “demo” it, in other words getting a sales pitch into a comment, well it’s disgusting.
