I am gadding off once again – this time to our mobile lodge in Mid Wales (fondly known to me and Mrs J as Middle‑earth) – and I won’t return until late on Friday 31st July. Under normal circumstances I might have postponed the post until the following week, but those who have followed me for any length of time will know that August is a particularly special month in my calendar. I shall say no more for now but promise to be more forthcoming in next week’s note (sadly, not a proper WUTW). Moving on, we have yet another weekend of poor pickings for bookish and writerly commemorations; however, we can at least cheer ourselves up by helping our friends in the US celebrate National Wine and Cheese Day.
