From its weight, to its smell, to its slowly acquired dog-eared, cover-bent, page stained, wabi-sabi patina of cherishment. Then, if I must read a digital copy1 it will be via a service that lets me actually own my purchase. Specifically: NOT Kindle. Lastly, but not least-ly, reading long form articles on my smartscreen of choice. Whatever the medium, IMHO undistracted reading is a skill to be cultivated and valued for the term of your natural life. But don’t listen to me, listen to Ja… Reading gets perceived (by various influencers and hustle-minded assholes) as a waste of time, a distraction from other tasks, or even a leisure activity that should be left for lazy weekends. Even if it were just a way to pass an afternoon, it would still be the single best way to spend your life. But it’s not only a hobby – the ability to read is a tool.
