The BBC Eighth Doctor Adventures: From an Eightfold Reunion To a Retcon War

Now that I’ve put the New Adventures (bar for the Benny-led ones), Missing Adventures, and the Doctor-featuring Decalogs to bed and put the Virgin Books era of official Doctor Who fiction behind me, it’s time to move on to the BBC Books-led era of Wilderness Years novels. Before I get into this, a word on methodology. After the first few New Adventures reviews, whose format was shaped in part by the parameters of the Timewyrm and Cat’s Cradle arcs, I settled into a pattern for both the New Adventures and Missing Adventures of covering six books per article, alternating New Adventures and Missing Adventures articles which covered the same span of time. This was nice and easy, in part because once they got up to speed Virgin ended up maintaining an impressively consistent monthly release schedule so each article would uncomplicatedly cover some six months of real-world time.
