Mission 2: The Breakout – Road to Cherbourg

Hi Didn’t post a report on mission 1 but that was a beach landing which ended in a stalemate basically giving both allied forces and Ze Germans a bonus for mission 2. Here’s the table setup The objectives for the US were the two well dug in 88’s I recently finished. They’d have six Sherman’s, three ten man squads of rangers and four eleven man squads of regular troops to get the job done. For my bonus, I planted ten landmines in that open field and on the road you can see in the foreground. Here’s an aerial shot of the map with spot fires indicating where the mines were. Warrens bonus would be two Luftwaffe straffes. As well as the 88s I had 30 regular troops defending but 30 Waffen ss would be turning up at the start of round 3. In the first round and most of the second round I wasn’t able to do much as Warren used the “sneak” rule to get his troops and some of his tanks across the open field.
